A North Carolina woman is facing a charge for stealing after she took a dog from a homeless man who she claims was abusing the dog. According to WSOCTV, Robin Huffman claims that George Henson hit his dog, Rocky, after the dog jumped on her outside of a gas station in Gaston County. Huffman told the news agency,
“I went down to pet him, and he jumped up on me, and I was loving on him, and he was kissing on me, and the man just whacked him with his stick as hard as he could.”
What happened next
After seeing the man hit the dog, Huffman opened the back of her vehicle and told Rocky to jump in. She took the dog to a veterinarian for an exam and shots – later, she was arrested.
Rocky’s owner is not facing any charges for allegedly abusing his dog because the veterinarian didn’t report signs of abuse.
Henson has since obtained a new dog named Bandit, and he doesn’t want to lose her. He told the news agency, “You can’t steal a man’s dog. You ain’t going to steal this one. She’s going to stay on my arm.”
Rocky has been adopted to a new family and Huffman has to go to court to face the charge for stealing him. She has expressed concern for Henson’s new dog – she told the news agency, “Anybody can have a dog, but if he’s homeless or a millionaire and starts to beat the dog, that takes away his right to have an animal.”
The local authorities are trying to obtain help for Henson, including counseling, therapy and special housing where dogs aren’t allowed.

Yes he has another dog to abuse! Why is he still allowed a dog? How can he take care of a dog when he can’t take care of himself? I guess all the eyewitnesses are liars? This is sickening!
There are many wonderful homeless people with companion dogs they love dearly. This guy obviously isn’t one of them. These cops need their heads examined!

Maybe if they get help for him like they say they are going to do, counseling, etc., then possibly having a dog he can love and treat well will be part of his therapy. Let’s hope that works out and that the authorities are keeping an eye on this man’s new dog.

From what I have read there were several witnesses that have seen this man abuse the dog even before this incident. This woman did what many of us would do, try to save the dog!. They obviously didn’t give the dog back to him but now he is allowed to have another to abuse. What is wrong with this picture?
