Woman accused of selling rescue puppy to fund a vacation

A woman is accused of selling an adopted pup to fund a vacation. The damning accusation was made via social media because the rescue group who initially adopted the dog out is hoping to find the young dog who was sold. The public post, made by Erin Morse with Midwest Animal Resq, begins:

This is Michelle Francis she came to in a few weeks ago to adopt a puppy. She gave us a sob story and was in tears about how much she loved the pup, and could we work with her on the fee. We obliged, wanting nothing more than a dog to be in a great loving home… Or so we thought.

She continues:

Turns out she was trying to make a quick buck and shortly there after sold our dog for $500 on a swap page, so she could fund an upcoming vacation.

According to Morse, the pup who was sold on the swap page has medical conditions which the new owner may not be aware of. Morse wrote:

We are trying desperately to find the dog. I have contacted local media, the sheriffs office, and have made every attempt to contact Ms Francis. Please share far and wide, and hopes we can find the dog, and at least make sure he is cared for, and getting the medical attention he needs.

Morse wants whoever is in possession of the dog to know that they are not in trouble – the rescue group just wants to speak to the person who had the dog in order to pass along the full medical history. The rescue agency has stated that it is willing to reimburse the individual for the purchase price if they are unable (or unwilling) to care for him.

According to Morse, the adopter is from the Stockton area – the dog was originally adopted from Raytown, MO and sold on a Missouri swap page.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Morse – Facebook link here.

Note: Morse has advised people to not contact Polk Co Animal control because they are aware of the situation and have banned her from their facility.

  1. The rescue group should contact the police in her town to let them know what she did and have them investigate where this dog is. I am sure she would respond more to police as to who she sold the dog to than letting the rescue group know. What a scum she is. She should be banned from all animal websites where you call sell, give to good home, swap out, etc. any website that involves live animals, dogs, etc.

She is a vile sub human that to make a buck basically stole from the rescue group. Hope they can contact who she sold the dog to so they are away of the medical condition of the dog so they can either take care of it or return it.

  2. How utterly disgusting this person is. Heartless, shallow and greedy………
sharing so this info gets out

  3. I think until this dog is presented in person in good shape that Michelle Francis should be arrested for felony animal abuse!

  4. I hope this vacation that Michelle Francis was so set on getting for herself turns into one that is a nightmare – she deserves it. May she meet her fate under the wheels of an 18 wheeler and end up as nothing more than a grease stain on the road. PLEASE do not stop trying to locate this poor dog – he is the innocent victim of a selfish, greedy hunk of sewer slime. Also, please update on this story.

  5. I pray you find this dog and thus evil lady pays someone knows where she is she needs to be arrested now she got the dog cause she lied arrest her
