A Morgan County, Missouri, woman is accused of a despicable act of cruelty which claimed the life of her ex-boyfriend’s dog. According to KRCG News, 26-year-old Hannah Leigh Jones is accused of repeatedly hitting her ex-boyfriend’s female Husky-Malamute mix with a tire iron on the night of May 11.
Jones claims that she decided to kill the dog because she had no food for her, or her puppies. The accused woman admitted to hitting the dog in the face three times with the tire iron – she claimed that she didn’t have a gun to kill the dog with.
The alleged dog killer left the dog outside, near her puppies, overnight, believing that the tire iron had accomplished the killing. But in the morning, Jones discovered that the injured dog was still alive. After discovering that the dog was still alive, Jones found a gun to finish the killing which she started.
Responding deputies found the deceased dog’s body hidden in foliage. A family member has disputed Jones’ claim that there was inadequate food for the dog and her puppies – the puppies have since been removed from the residence and Jones was arrested. She is facing a charge of second-degree animal abuse – Jones has pleaded not guilty.
