A 12-year-old German shepherd mix is being held at a busy California animal control…will anyone come to save him? The dog, dubbed Fletch, arrived at the shelter on January 6 – but his family never came to retrieve him.

Days ago, a Facebook post was made on behalf of the homeless senior dog:

“I will classify him as a gentle old soul with a big heart and a quiet sweetness about him. He loves to make eye contact with those big brown eyes and he takes treats very softly. He’s a senior who should not be here and needs our immediate attention. PLEASE SHARE FLETCH.”

Who purposefully seeks out a dog in the twilight of their life? Will anyone bother to give Fletch a second glance? Right now, this deserving senior dog could use the help of strangers who will share his adoption information – he should be in a home, with a family, not alone in a kennel run.

Did you know that if you want to get updates from a Facebook page, you have to do more than just “like” it? To get recent postings in your Facebook feed, you must also hover your mouse over the word “following” and then click “see first” from the drop-down menu. You may want to check back with your favorite pages on occasion because Facebook often changes your settings, no longer having your favorites among those to “see first.”

  1. SOME PISS ASSHOLES CAN BE SO DAMN LOW LIFE. IT MAKES ME WONDER WHAT KIND OF LIFE THIS POOR DOG HAD ALL THESE YEARS WITH THESE BASTARDS WHO ARE SO HEARTLESS. HOPE THEY HAVE A ROTTEN SHORT FUTURE AHEAD OF THEM.

  2. Shared on FB. Poor pup. I hope someone gives him a loving home to live out his twilight years. Give Fletch a chance! Please don’t kill him.

  4. There are people, albeit few and far between, who search our senior dogs. I’ve adopted 2 seniors – they weren’t as old as Fletch but seniors nonetheless. This guy looks so sweet – and to have a dog who likes to make eye contact, wow! I hope he can find a good home.

  5. Fletch is beautiful. Where is German Shepherd Rescue in California. I know there is one in Orange County. You need to call them. If their not near you they can tell you one near you. This is horrible. I wish he was in Maryland. Please don’t kill him.
