A camera was rolling when an animal control officer with Georgia’s Fulton County Animal Services responded to a call about an injured dog. According to the animal welfare agency, the officer had received a call about a wounded dog who was in “bad shape” and laying in a neighbor’s driveway.

The officer responded right away and discovered a gray pit bull dubbed Baxter huddled up, seemingly waiting for help to arrive. Baxter immediately responded to the animal control officer’s gentle voice and was ready to have the lead slipped over his head.

The video proceeds to show Baxter at the shelter – cleaned up and safe. Next step – find Baxter a home! You can help the animal shelter save dogs like Baxter by donating to the Lifeline Animal Project fund (click here to learn more).

  1. This man is my hero today, because he has refreshed my sense of confidence in Animal Control Officers. Too often, we hear about many of these people being paid to serve and protect and they BLATANTLY do NOTHING to help the animals in their county. To the people at this Georgia facility, thank you for hiring this guy and he ought to be the shining example to train the others so guilty of dereliction of duty. People don’t expect you all to climb Mt. Everest, but we are heartbroken and angry when you REFUSE to do your job as we PAY YOU to do. Keep up this fantastic work at Georgia Fulton County Animal Services.

  2. It is evident that this little guy is a gentle and deserving dog who has been mistreated , I hope there are individuals that will take the time and dedication to give Baxter a Chance at having a good and caring family that will love and cherish him as he so deserves!!!

  3. How nice to see a good, safe, rescue by an officer ……. instead of what is usually posted.
Thank you for rescuing this beauty!!

  4. Its nice to know there is at least one kind soul in Fulton County Animal Control – Thank you officer for your concern and rescuing Baxter gently. Maybe you could convince the rest of the animal control officers to take a gentler kinder action to abused and scared animals.
