Rescuers named him Warrior. Despite the heartbreaking neglect suffered by this stray, Warrior fights to stay alive. On Wednesday night, Rescue Dogs Rock NYC received an urgent plea from the New York City Animal Care Center to give Warrior a chance to survive.

Weighing only 23 pounds, animal control officers found the stray in a Bronx neighborhood hiding behind scaffolding and left shivering in the freezing morning temperatures. Rushed to the shelter, compassionate employees called Rescue Dogs Rock NYC co-founder Jackie O’Sullivan who arranged for the transfer of Warrior to the organization’s emergency veterinarian hospital.

“No this is not Gabriel – this is WARRIOR who was found today in the Bronx behind some scaffolding in freezing temps at only 23 pounds. What is going on in New York City?,” Jackie posted on the organization’s social media page.
