A warrant was issued on Friday by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office in connection with a heartbreaking case concerning a friendly puppy trapped in a wire cage and left to drown at bay front during the rising tide.

On the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Facebook page, Aaron D. Davis, 36, from Long Branch was identified as a person tied to the case of the dog’s abandonment. On Tuesday,  the one-year-old gray and white friendly pit bull had been left in a black wire cage between the beach sandy bulkhead and the water at Veterans Memorial Park.

Jennifer Vaz, walking her own dog, spotted the ten-month-old puppy she named River, and rescued him. She then called the Monmouth County SPCA.

“I couldn’t believe that this happened in our town and somebody could be this malicious and do that to that dog,” Vaz told WabcNews.

Vaz says she will foster River and also hopes to adopt him.

“High tide would have been at 10:30, and this crate to house this small dog was probably two and a half feet off the ground,” Monmouth County Prosecutor Chris Gramiccioni said. “The water was rising through the crate and just in a matter of less than an hour, River wouldn’t have made it if it weren’t for Jennifer coming to take him out of the crate, saving his life.”

Anyone who has any information about Davis or that may have witnessed anything is asked to call the Monmouth County SPCA Animal Cruelty Hot Line 877-898-7297 or the Highlands Police Department at 732-872-1158.

  1. That is Not a man. It’s a savage maggot neanderthal masquerading as a human being. That filthy fuck deserves nothing more than to be crammed in a cage and left near the rising tide. My home state doesn’t need diseases like that.

  2. Bastard should be put in a cage, left at the edge of the water at high tide, and left there for the water to carry him out to and under the sea.

  3. Put him in a cage at high tide and see how he survives if he does. Then throw him in jail forever. No use to this country at all.

  4. It figures!!!! You sick fucker. Stick you in a cage and leave you on the edge of ocean .. wait for the tide to rise and END your life.
