In Sheffield, England, former employees of the The Doggy Den have been sharing videos on social media showing staff at the canine daycare kicking and throwing toys at the heads of crying and whimpering dogs.

Three videos taken from surveillance footage show dogs being kicked and has been labeled as “horrific abuse” by many of the viewers. One of the videos show only two men in a room with at least 20 dogs. Another video showed the dogs pacing while a Dalmation in a cage whimpers and cries in the back of the building.

The videos were alleged to have been captured between March and December of last year. Those employees are no longer there and have since stated they were too afraid to expose the treatment of the dogs for fear of losing their jobs.

“There were too many dogs to staff members, the dogs would fight all the time; puppies were places in the same room as adult dogs; the dogs were stressed out and frustrated,” she wrote. “I left because I was bitten by one dogs and couldn’t cope with the stress and pressure anymore.”
Official boarding condition guidelines suggest there be one person watching over every six dogs present. The manager of The Doggy Den, Tom Greatorex, has stated the videos were taken more than 18 months ago and the incidents were isolated reassuring pet owners, those staff members are no longer with the company. As for the photo of a Dalmatian whimpering in a cage, Greatorex stated the photo was staged and dogs are never kept isolated in the rear of the building.
“I can assure our customers and clients they are isolated incidents and the staff members in question have now left the business. I can 100% say that this kind of abuse does not happen on our premises.”
Greatorex stated he will invite the council and the RSPCA to inspect his premises.
The video can be seen here.
Warning: The video is graphic and disturbing and may not be suitable for all viewing audiences.

  1. This so called ‘Manager’, Tom Greatorex, should immediately be fired and this dump. masquerading as a doggy day care, namely The Doggy Den, should be closed down permanently – the owner was nothing more than a greedy scumbag whose only concern was money – NOT the care of the dogs – and that is obvious – and to the cowardly staff, you are as guilty as the punks who abused these poor animals for sitting there and doing nothing. You are all punk assed cowards who let this abuse go on and did nothing to prevent or intervene – you should all be in jail for your spineless selfish acts.

  2. Close the place down and start with a new manager and vetted workers. Owners leave their dogs there to be taken care of, not abused. Limiting number of dogs per person is very important because it prevents any negative incidents from happening.

  3. There MUST BE a thorough investigation! Also, I am seriously concerned this could be happening at other shelters as well. Serious oversight is MANDATORY at all shelters. Anything is possible behind closed doors, and the innocent defenseless animals must be protected!

  4. SHUT THAT FUCKING PLACE DOWN!!!! Throw the owners & employees responsible in jail. Let the nasty bastards stay there too

  5. There are people that you have to wonder WHY do they get into the business of pets if this is the way they treat them. People pay good money and think they are doing their pet a favor by taking them someplace fun to play with other dogs. This place needs to be investigated at the very least and probably shut down. I know if I were one of their customers, I would never leave my pet with them again, no matter what they say or do.

    • Well said.
Sadly there is not enough regulation and so we end up with unqualified people such as this operating with no understanding of dogs what so ever. He is a liar , he states “professional staff ” lie, they have no qualifications at all. This place needs to have it’s licence revoked @
