Valentine’s Day, a holiday to show our love for others. What better way to show love, than to help some homeless dogs continue to get the care and boarding while they wait to get adopted? Animal Coalition Unlimited, located in Oregon, has taken in many hard to place dogs; dogs with behavioral issues, and those with special needs. However, these issues do not deter the Coalition from doing their best to keep these dogs in a safe environment and trying to find the best home for them; often not an easy feat.
Animal Coalition Unlimited does not adopt their dogs out on a first come, first serve basis but on the philosophy of finding the most fitting home for each dog. One of the dogs currently under the care of the coalition is Tylee. She is a one-year old Staffordshire/Dogo Argentino mix who displays symptoms of what would be considered Autism in humans.
Although she is a sweet dog, she is completely disconnected from everything outside her own little world. Loud noises, out of ordinary routines, unusual types of dressing/appearances upset her easily. When Tylee was just eight weeks old, she was just like any other puppy; a soft, squirming bundle of fur with a sparkle in her eyes. At that time her future seemed bright. However, over time the sparkle in her eyes diminished, and her abnormal behavior started showing when she was about 16 weeks old. The challenges seemed to increase significantly right after she turned 6 months old.
However, Animal Coalition Unlimited is not going to give up on Tylee or have her put down like many others have suggested. She, along with many other hard to adopt dogs are still under the care of the Coalition. Most need continued boarding and veterinary care. All of this adds up.
To help offset expenses for Tylee and many other special dogs, the Animal Coalition Unlimited is holding a Valentine’s Day Raffle starting February tenth and ending on February 19th. They are offering some amazing prizes from various sponsors.
