Rescue needed: Puppy broke 2 legs
Spread the love

A bouncy, sweet puppy is in dire need of help. The five-month-old puppy, named Loki, needs to have surgery on two broken legs – if a rescue group can’t pull him before Monday, he will be put down.

Loki arrived to the Mesquite, Texas, animal shelter with no broken legs – it is surmised that he was repetitively jumping inside of his kennel run and his young bones, still growing, fractured. The rescue coordinator for the animal shelter wrote:

“This is devastating! He is the sweetest little pup and he tries so hard to stand and walk. He is still at the vet clinic in a smaller cage to restrict movement and on pain meds, but he needs help ASAP. We are asking for at most a rescue to take him and get the surgery for his legs.”

The shelter has been trying to find a rescue group to take Loki in, but so far, their efforts haven’t been successful. Loki has been stabilized by a veterinarian – but the surgery that he needs is beyond the means of the animal shelter. Please network Loki’s information and help him find a rescue group who can help.

Injury note: Appears to have distal fractures on both tibia in his back legs right on/near the growth plate.

Note – please do not contact the animal shelter unless you are able to provide assistance to Loki.

    • This shelter is in Texas. They are notorious for their treatment of dogs. No exaggeration. Obviously they won’t pay for surgery. They will just destroy Loki because it’s easier to do than spend money trying to save his life. It’s a miracle they are giving him a chance at all. Please help Loki by sharing him on your public Facebook page.

  1. I CAN only hope that Rescue Dogs Rock of New York will step up here ONCE Again as WE ALL know that Texas will NOT STEP UP and Assist this little guy and HE is only 5 months old for Christ Sake!!! He is so Sweet Faced he needs a chance to have a Good Life with a Family who will love him…

  2. Of course another example of the piss poor care Texas shelters provide – Loki supposedly broke his legs jumping which I find questionable – BUT the bigger problem is their lack of any real effort to find a rescue for him – do not believe they made any at all – he is a baby and deserves a life where Mesquite Texas is way too quick to want to kill him – such compassion – I HOPE RESCUE DOGS ROCK NYC will step up for this little guy – he deserves a life not a date with the Texas death chamber. This state is pathetic.

  3. Please someone help this poor pup I am digusted with this place and state why does Texas have no heart for animals

  4. I have contacted RDRNY to see if they pulled him. I also have a couple rescue independents in that area as well. But I’m a little late seeing this. I hope the little guy is safe.

  5. How does a 5 month old puppy, break both of his legs, in a pound? Someone needs to question this, I have no idea, if he made it, my hope is either way, he is not in pain anymore, they have no soul, at this pound.

  6. UPDATE ~ just heard back from Rescue Coordinator, Jeanne Saadi, Loki the pup was sent to a rescue in South Carolina and slowly recovering per Mesquite Animal Service!!
