A six-week-old puppy continues to fight for his life. According to Rescue Dogs Rock NYC, the 1-pound puppy has been on oxygen therapy for the past five days and is now breathing on his own.
Rico was surrendered to a South Carolina emergency veterinarian last week after someone stepped on him. At the time, tiny Rico was given a 50/50 chance of survival. The puppy’s first update three days later has given guarded hope for his survival. Rescue Dogs Rock NYC co-founder, Jackie O’Sullivan posted the following on the group’s social media page:
“PUPPY RICO (stepped on) UPDATE:
The good news is that he is still fighting! It is too soon to know if he will survive or not. Rico remains pretty out of it on IV meds @ the 24/7 ER hospital. Please keep this tiny angel in your thoughts & prayers & donate if you can!”
And on Saturday, little Rico continues his fight. He is not out of the woods at all or has it been deemed if he is mentally appropriate. He continues to be on multiple medications, has a jugular catheter and is being given every chance to survive his terrible trauma.
Rico’s medical expenses are in the thousands – please help to give this little one every chance. He deserves it.
