A severely injured dog, recently rescued by a good Samaritan in Indiana, is slowly making improvement. According to the Shelbyville/Shelby County Animal Shelter, the wounded pit bull, dubbed Justice, is grievously wounded, but showing signs that he may recover.
The shelter wrote on social media:
He is still fighting. The Veterinarian increased his fluids as he is absorbing everything that they are giving him. He has a serious infection that he is also battling from his horrific wounds. They are also managing his pain and sweet Justice did eat a small amount this morning.
The latest (November 6) update was posted to the shelter’s Facebook page:
I just got off the phone with his Veterinarian. She stated that she felt he looked better. His glucose and blood pressure has improved also. Unfortunately, they believe his esophagus has been irritated due to the chemical ingestion and that is why he is regurgitating. With that said, they will be administering a feeding tube so that he can receive nutrition which will help in his healing. They are still managing his pain with medication and the vet reported to me that last night he was circling around trying to find a spot that was comfortable. He found his spot….resting his precious head on the lap of a Vet employee.
Nobody knows how Justice was hurt – but the shelter is hopeful that someone will come forward with information.
