In Coxsackie, New York, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office announced an arrest has been made in the case of an abused and neglected dog named Penny.

According to a press release issued by the sheriff’s office, Paul C. Bull, 47, has been charged with one count of misdemeanor animal cruelty under the Agriculture and Markets Law of New York. On January 12, the three-year-old pitbull mix had wandered up to a home where the owners immediately called authorities. Dubbed Penny, the friendly dog was taken to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society in Ghent and examined.

Penny is currently being treated for multiple infections and a severe case of mange.

“Penny is a gentle, sweet dog that deserves a better life than she’s had so far,” stated Columbia Greene Humane Society/SPCA president Ron Perez.

Although Penny’s condition is very painful, she is responding well to treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.

    • ANY animal abuse should be a felony – I too, am so sick and tired of seeing these human maggots getting literally no punishment for their cruelty towards a defenseless animal.

      • I thought NY had more stringent laws, maybe they fi but aren’t enforced or these Judges sentence too lightly. I would like to see animal abuse moved to felony status, harsh punishments, jail time and death pension a lot of these cases! Infuriating!

  1. “One count of misdemeanor animal cruelty”??? It’s no wonder people continue to abuse animals….barely a slap on the wrist for making Penny endure months of suffering. I hope the POS rots in Hell – the sooner the better.

  2. Lock this ugly monster away for many, many, months. Then give him a HUGE fine upon release and add his name to a National Registry for Animal abuse so he may never have another pet OR live in the same home as a pet.

  3. So glad they found the owner. Hopefully, the judge will do the right thing and put this guys away for a long stretch, and also fine him. It is beyond me how people can do this type of thing to innocent children and animals. They are evil, vile people to hurt any innocent creature this way.

  4. Throw the ugly bastard in the slammer and throw away the key. Hope for Penny’s full recovery and adopted out to a loving family that will give the care and love she so much deserve.
