On Friday morning, a two-month-old  Boxer puppy  with his dewclaws removed and his tail cropped was dumped outside of the Fort Defiance Humane Shelter in Ohio at approximately 6:00 a.m.

The two suspects were caught on camera pushing the puppy under the fence and then leaving. The puppy was found outside of the shelter hiding under a bush. He was cold and extremely frightened.

Rescue volunteers have dubbed the little one Paul. His tail has also been docked, and he appears very thin and undernourished.

“Working in rescue is hard. That is a statement we say time and time again, maybe more frequently than you would expect,” the organization posted on their social media page. “We often hear ‘you have the best job! You get to pet dogs all day’ and so on. While these statements ring true it also means that we see the faces of confusion, disappointment, fear. Those faces stay burned in your memory and you fight hard each day to be the voice for those who need it. Like this little fella named Paul.”

Anyone recognizing these two men or have knowledge of this puppy, is asked to contact Fort Defiance Humane Society.

  1. Bless this shelter for taking in the emaciated pup who was so scared and cold. Look at that adorable face. Who could dump this sweetheart and why. They should be in jail and pay for all the care of this little guy.

  2. I have never heard of “declawing” a dog. What purpose does this serve. If they didn’t want the pup then turn it into the shelter properly and let it be adopted and loved. Don’t just dump the poor thing to fend for it’s self in the cold. I hope they find the morons that did this and they are charged with cruelty.

  3. This pup was not “declawed”…..it had it’s “dewclaws” removed. Completely different, although still sad.
I believe the word “declawed” is just a typo.
