Two men, believed to be involved with an animal cruelty case involving a dog found tied to a log in a canal, have been arrested in New York. According to WKTV News,  23-year-old Trevor Drake of Rome and 23-year-old Kyle Webb of Boonville, are facing charges for abandoning the dog dubbed River.

The cruelty case

On July 30, a white husky type dog was discovered tied to a log near the Erie Canal. The dog was discovered by Rome Animal Control at the end of Luquer Street. The dog was found to be in good health, but the SPCA believes that she was intentionally abandoned.

The charges

Because the incident is believed to be intentional, the two men are charged with abandonment of an animal – a class A misdemeanor.
