In San Antonio, Texas, an alleged intoxicated boyfriend has been accused of hitting a puppy with a dumbbell during a domestic argument with his girlfriend.
According to KensNews5, the criminal complaint states Leo Martinez, 29, had been drunk when he and his girlfriend left a party on November 11. The woman told authorities she wanted to drive, but Martinez insisted he drive and became agitated. Once the couple arrived home, the woman tried to call her mother to pick her up, and the argument between the couple ignited again.
The woman reported her boyfriend picked up a 15-pound dumbbell and threw it at her but missed. He then went outside with the dumbbell and hit the woman’s dog, a Siberian husky named Nightmare, on its back before picking it up again and striking the defenseless animal in the head. The dog had been tied to a fence and was not able to escape; he could be heard yelping in pain which attracted neighbors who called the police for help.
When police arrived, the dog was rushed to Animal Care Services where he died two days later. The investigator in charge of the animal cruelty case called the dog’s injuries as “heartbreaking.”
“He basically bludgeoned this animal into unconsciousness,” stated Joel Skidmore. “There’s absolutely no reason for this to have happened. This is a horrific act of animal cruelty.”
An arrest warrant for Martinez was issued in mid-December. His bail has been set at $15,000.

I find it hard to believe the “girlfriend” hadn’t seen this behavior from this POS before. I hope she is now his ex! This POS needs to spend time in jail and using the “intoxicated” defense is NO defense at all. It’s a coward that will hit a defenseless puppy and kill it. why didn’t the girlfriend call the police? For me, had some guy done that to my dog, I think I would be the one in jail, because there is no way I could not do something. If someone has that kind of a temper which I’m sure this is not the first time he displayed his immature tantrums, then she should have protected her dog. That poor dog. Leo Martinez just proved what sniveling coward he is – to beat an innocent dog who was tied up and unable to defend itself or escape certainly shows this hunk of sewer slime has the backbone of overcooked spaghetti – I truly hope there is some real justice for this poor dog and it comes in the form of a shank – this fucking punk deserves no less.
