A tenderhearted German shepherd is struggling after his family decided to surrender him to a busy California animal shelter. The three-year-old dog, named Reighley, was surrendered (no reason was provided) by his family on May 8.

Volunteers offer insight

Reighley is described as sweet and shy, and he appears to be sad that he has lost his home. A volunteer wrote:

This handsome boy is a tenderhearted fellow who appreciates human attention. He seems genuinely sad about being in the shelter and is a little shy about coming out of his kennel–but once he is out with our volunteers, he is as cooperative as can be. He truly wowed us with his good manners. He walks well on leash and his former owner tells us he is housebroken and good with other dogs, which we also observed.

How you can help this sad shepherd

Networking saves lives! Reighley’s chances of being adopted will increase greatly if he is seen by more people. So what can you do? Share his adoption information on your social media accounts (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest) so that others can see what a great dog he is.

For more information on this pet, contact volunteer UHA adoption coordinator Sandra at 323-350-7207 or [email protected].

  1. What a beautiful German Shepard! He is young and so affectionate. He will make a great pet for someone with older children. Not sure because of his size if younger ones would be ok, but that is something the shelter will let a potential adopter know. Are there any GS rescues that would take him? Also he could be trained to be a police dog. Very aware of what is going on around him.

  2. Poor baby Reighly!! He’s probably feeling confused an yes very sad that he was put there in the shelter! I hope someone will notice this beautiful boy an give him the loving 4ever home he deserves!! You’ll b in my prayers baby boy!!

  3. COMPANION ANIMAL”S :::: VETERAN ORGANIZATIONS or BEGGING for COMPANION DOGS :: There must be NUMEROUS ORGANIZATIONS that WOULD DRIVE hundreds if not thousands of miles to GIVE this lovely German Shepard a CHANCE to save his life and the TRAINING to Become a CANION ANIMAL!!! If anyone knows of such Organizations out there CALL THEM THIS MAY SAVE 2 lives!!!! Baldwin isn’t known for keeping ANY animal for long…
