A 15-year-old boy was fined $645 for punching and kicking a woman’s “much loved” pet dog to death in a “prolonged attack”in St. Ives, Cornwall. In a two-day trial last month, the teen who was only 14 at the time, was found guilty of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.

According to the CornwallLive,  Justice Diana Baker recounted how a 71-year-old woman’s loved dog named Teddy had suffered a fractured skull and multiple blunt force trauma to his head, neck and torso resulting in internal bleeding. The teen defended his actions telling the judge, on October 31, 2017, Teddy had cornered the boy’s pet terrier, and that’s when the teen had a “total loss of control.” The judge stated she did not believe the defendant’s account when he claimed he was trying to protect his own dog.

“I have read a pre-sentence report which said a lot about your family background,” stated the judge. You are a young man who has lived with domestic violence for a long period of time that had an effect on your emotional well being and ability to deal with stressful situations, as did your cannabis misuse.”

In a victim’s impact statement to the court, Jacqueline Stevens, 71, the owner of Teddy, a Staffordshire bull terrier who had been described as extremely good-natured, stated she had raised the dog since he was a tiny puppy. The two had been inseparable, and he was killed just days before his ninth birthday. Jacqueline dreads just going to St. Ives now because of the terrible memories.

In addition to the fine, the boy is banned from keeping animals for the next three years. He was also sentenced to an 18-month rehabilitation order with 18 months of supervision and an eight-week curfew. Oddly enough, the family was able to keep their terrier.

Many thanks to the witnesses who stood up for Teddy – helping the dog get some justice. If you see abuse, make sure to report it.

Rest in peace Teddy. (Photo of much loved Teddy via previous handout)

  1. Okay. First of all, WHY did the judge have to blame ANY of it on his so called “cannabis misuse”?

WHY do people even believe that crap? Fact is, IF he used it, he would have been LESS LIKELY to abuse someone NOT MORE!!!!

Because of his ignorance, a monster was allowed to get off with a much lighter sentence than he should have!

Granted, his living with domestic violence and an abusive home life did affect him. However, many other people do as well, and they don’t end up killing other pets, especially when they have pets of their own. In fact, their pets often become their best friends, and that certainly helps them relate to everyone else’s pets and other animals. I speak from experience here.

The judge should have removed that child from his abusive home and attempted some vital therapy. If he’s EVER going to be kept from repeating this behavior, and at his age that’s going to be hard to prevent, allowing him to stay in the same home that caused the problem is NOT the answer.

The judge is obviously an idiot. He made all kinds of excuses for the monster without attempting to really fix the problem. Odds are he can’t be fixed, and this judge has no understanding of anything to do with the link between animal abuse / murder and abusing / killing people any more than he does the actual effect of cannabis on someone. UGH.

  2. I am glad he was caught and punished but my lying to the justice on what really happened looks like he still hasn’t learned his lession. This boy needs to be watched closely next time it will be a defenseless child just like it was a defensiveless dog. I feel so bad for the owner my heart is breaking for her and her poor dog

    • I am sickened by the unimaginable atrocities of heinous torture and suffering these psychopathic depraved lowlife monsters are committing against such trusting and innocent dogs, puppies, cats, kittens and all the other innocent animals that these lowlife monsters commit against the innocent and voiceless. I don’t care what age these animal torturing monsters are. They all should be put to death by the same unimaginable torture and suffering these lowlife animal torturing monsters committed against their innocent and helpless victims.
Much stricter Animal Protection Laws must be introduced that all animal torturers and abusers whatever age should be put to death.
This is the only way that these unimaginable atrocities committed by these psychopathic depraved animal torturing monsters against the innocent and voiceless will be stopped.
The punishment that vile and evil 15-year-old boy was fined $645 for punching and kicking a woman’s “much loved” pet dog to death in a “prolonged attack” was an absolute disgrace. Eradication from our planet is a must, not such a low $645 where this lowlife animal torturing monster of a kid delibertely torturing an innocent dog to death named Teddy. What ever age kill them all. This is the only way that these vile and evil animal torturers can be stopped. Eradication from our planet earth. Good riddance to such lowlife animal torturing filth on our planet.
      RIP beautifil Teddy.

  3. Shame on the judge for handing down a slap on the wrist to this POS punk. Animal abuse/cruelty needs to be taken much more seriously. I’d like to catch this slime in a dark alley with a baseball bat in my hands. This poor dog wouldn’t be the only one with a broken skull. He needs his nuts cut off too so he can’t reproduce. Hope mob justice takes over.

  4. This is justice for Teddy and Jacqueline Stevens? How is a fine of $645 and an 18-month rehabilitation order with 18 months of supervision and an eight-week curfew and not owning a pet for 3 years anywhere near justice for killing an innocent dog! Get with it judge this is disgusting! He will go on to harm other animals and people, just watch!

  5. He’s banned from keeping animals for 3 years but the family gets to keep the terrier? Hello??????? He’s in the same house as the family dog! What are you trying to do judge, keep everybody happy? It doesn’t work like that!
