A surveillance camera captured a shocking moose attack on an Anchorage family’s dog. According to KTVA News, On Saturday afternoon, Kim Mahosky’s dogs were outside playing in the snow, inside of their fenced-in yard, when the unthinkable happened.

A moose cow had jumped the fence and was inside of Mahosky’s yard, trampling her nine-year-old Cocker spaniel, Daisy. The video shows Daisy being thrown around like a rag doll – amazingly, despite the violent thrashing, Daisy survived, albeit with serious injuries.

Mahosky told KTVA, “My poor little Daisy laid on the porch shaking with blood pouring from the top of her back.” The injured dog was rushed to a veterinarian and she had to undergo emergency surgery – fortunately, she is expected to recovery.

Following the traumatic incident, Daisy’s owner wants others to be aware of the danger that moose can pose to pets. She told KTUU, “We just have to be careful, careful of your surroundings and people need to be aware of how dangerous they are.”

  1. I’m happy Daisy survived and recovering from the attack. However, pets should not be left outside without supervision, even in your own backyard. There must be a reason the “cow” moose jumped the fence and attacked Daisy. Was there a baby calf nearby that the moose felt she needed to protect? The owner did say her “dogs” were playing in the outside.

  2. If the owner had been watching the dogs, this attack could have been prevented. Being in the location where there wild animals it is imperative that owners are vigilant about keeping an eye out for any predator. Thank God Daisy is recovering and hopefully this is a lesson to Kim Mahosky that her dogs need to be supervised when outside.

  3. People annoy me, yet never shock me. If they don’t make some type of arrogant comment, their day just may not be complete!! Yes Kim, darn you. You fenced in your yard for your dogs to play and not get loose you horrible person! How dare you do what 98% of people do.. let your dogs out in your fenced yard. You should have stood out there with your dogs every second, and this way when the moose jumped over, it could have mauled not only little daisy, but you as well! Daisy got away because she was small, you may not have been so lucky! Anyway Kim, so sorry about Daisy, thank God she’s ok. Hopefully she will not be afraid for life and prevent her from running around with other dog and playing.

  4. There would have been moosepm mutable by the weekend. They are fine in their own space but when they come into mine, game on !!!
