A stunning German shepherd is locked away in a busy California animal shelter kennel run because his family surrendered him without providing shelter staff with a reason. At eight years of age, Indio is considered to be a senior dog – unfortunately, his status as a senior makes him less desirable to many potential adopters.

Indio’s many attributes

United Hope for Animals has provided some information about this lovely senior dog’s many attributes. The animal welfare agency wrote:

“Indio is a is a good-natured 8-year-old brown-cream-and-white neutered male German Shepherd whose owners surrendered him to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on May 18th for no known reason. Weighing 80 lbs, this big and gentle boy is super sweet. He’s a calm lover who likes other dogs and loves people.”

A volunteer’s glowing comments about this deserving senior dog

A volunteer describes sweet Indio:

“He is smart and sweet, came right up to volunteers at our table asking for scratches and looking for treats. He takes treats gently and is what one would call an “old soul.” He’ll give you a kiss as well, though he won’t kiss you non-stop. Indio is a real companion, perfect for any type of household who wants that calm, steady, loving big dog that will be by your side, loyal forever.”

  1. Someone adopt or foster this beautiful dog. Where are the German Shepard rescues to get this guy? Someone who loves this breed would take him.

  2. God bless you, Indio! I am praying hard that you will find the deeply loving caring family you so richly deserve!

  3. WHAT A WONDERFUL COMPANION for one of OUR(USA)VETERNS with PTSD !!! COME on out there in California INSTEAD of GRABBING the NEEDLE and JABBING in This beautiful , calm, and loving Shepard’s HEART… FOR CHRIST SAKE LOOK FOR OTHER OPTIONS HERE!!! YOU Moralistic, self -centered , all about you people out there.. THINK of how happy a beautiful housetrained, calm, gentle would fit into the lives of say a nursing home companion, an elder who has nobody to be vested in them as their families have dumped them too , because they aren’t rich and won’t leave them a fortune… there are homes for teens that have no place to go, and handicapped placement where the company of this kind of dog WOULD BE MOST WELCOME!!! OH I know you are to busy and can’t take time to Help this animal find someone to LOVE AND CHERISH HIM!!! I hope if you euthanize him YOU WILL BE HAUNTED TILL YOU ARE PLACED IN AN INSTITUTION BECAUSE NO ONE WANTED YOU!

  4. I am positive “karma” will be strong and swift if this shelter and the community does not find a way to help this precious dog!

  5. He had some fucked up owners. Hope his owners suffer in pain and have a shit life ahead of them for dumping this dog at a shelter.
