Nearly a month ago, Mia, a therapy dog, was stolen in a carjacking incident in Lakewood, Colorado – now, she has finally been reunited with her owner. According to 6 ABC News, the 10-year-old pit bull had been taken in by a good Samaritan.

Mia’s owner, Darren Schook, had been using the, Fight Breast Cancer, Not Pit Bulls,Facebook page to try and locate the missing dog. Schook’s posts about his missing dog were shared thousands of times – he has expressed gratitude to everyone who took the time to try and find his dog, and especially to Jon Peters, the man who took her in.

On March 29, a post about the man who brought Mia back to her owner was made on the Fight Breast Cancer, Not Pit Bulls Facebook page:

“Meeting Mr Peters bless his heart a humble man himself said he had gotten Mia from a family member to whom witnesses the evilness of Eugene Gmilo Mathews carjacker … Pushed Mia out of truck took off… Family witness picked Mia up…. Bless you mystery angel.”

Did you know that if you want to get updates from a Facebook page, you have to do more than just “like” it? To get recent postings in your Facebook feed, you must also hover your mouse over the word “following” and then click “see first” from the drop-down menu. You may want to check back with your favorite pages on occasion because Facebook often changes your settings, no longer having your favorites among those to “see first.”

  1. Nice to read happy endings like this. Hope the carjacker gets into an accident and dies. Deserves no less than that. So many people are hard working citizens, and then you get these low lifes who think that stealing is the way to make money. Hope they catch this guy. So happy Mia is back with her family.

    • As long as the car accident involves just the carjacker’s vehicle running into a concrete barrier or something because I wouldn’t want anyone else in another vehicle to suffer

  2. It feels sooo good to know the faith & humanity in the world is out there being restored ???? Stories like these are heart wrenching to hear they’ve taken place. However, good things come to those whom wait & pray wholeheartedly; I’ve ALWAYS believed this to be true ????‍♀️ No telling why ppl out there feel compelled to take from others what doesn’t belong to them. No need to wish them wrong. God has a plan for each & every1 of us. It’s in His hands. Best we can all do is pray for each other’s unity in God’s love. Prayer in #s CAN move mountains! ✌Blessings to the pup & her loving dog parent ❤ May the Lord grant you many happy memories together ⚘

  3. Glad this girl is back with her owner… don’t leave her in the car alone … used to live near Golden Colorado on Ward Road… 30 years ago it was a quiet neighborhood and people all new each other and watched out of the elderly…. The whole Denver and Suburbs have changed so much you are NOT SAFE ANYWHERE ANY MORE… I imagine the Gentleman who gave her back may have had some concerns IF She was going back to a good and safe environment…. Hopefully she did…
