Meet Lucas. According to Rescue Dogs Rock NYC, just when you think you have seen it all, along comes another tragic case of animal cruelty worse than the time before, and again our hearts are broken. Lucas came into a Georgia animal shelter on Wednesday; filthy, injured with extensive cuts and even more worrisome – the dog is unable to open his mouth and reportedly has not eaten in two weeks.

In the video posted below, Lucas can be seen shaking, twitching and drooling. No one can even imagine this dog’s suffering; he cannot eat or drink, nor even stick out his tongue. He is emaciated and suffering.

“He brought us to tears today, and we could not let him suffer and die like this,” wrote co-founder of the rescue organization, Jackie O’Sullivan on their Facebook page.. “He’s emaciated and has suffered tremendously- of that there is NO doubt. He brought us to tears today and we could not let him suffer and die like this – NO WAY!”

  1. I had a recovered from distemper dog that twitched. He was OK for several years. X rays will show a lot. Please look at the obvious abuse and neglect. He has been hurt by a man. Did you notice him lifting his lip when that young man tried to move him by the collar? Give him a chance, please. You can get water in his mouth by putting a small tube between that space in the back by his molars. I f i were closer i would help in a second. He would be home in my bed.

  2. Heaven help this poor animal. He has been provided with a second chance. I hope with the care RDRNYC can give him he will recover. Soooo sad.

  3. This is so heartbreaking to watch i hope that the person who did this will be brought to justice and sent away for a very long time.
