A dog in Kennett, Missouri, sustained so much damage from a gunshot wound that he had to be humanely euthanized. The Kennett Humane Department is hoping to find out who shot the dog and left him for dead.
Reaching out to the public
On Thursday, the Kennett Humane Department reached out to the public about the disturbing case of animal cruelty. In a Facebook post, the department recounted the sad situation:
We had been dispatched about several dogs running loose around Elaine Dr.
We went to the location and we did see 3 dogs.
We noticed a red medium mix breed adult male laying under a tree alive but not moving. We had a passer by say the dog had been put there since around 5-5:30 that morning and it appeared shot. We then picked the dog up with no threat of biting and went straight to Dr. Mobley’s office, KVC. Dr. Mobley verified a gunshot to the dog.
The dog a young red male sweet boy that did not deserve this to happen.
Anyone with information about the dog, or the shooting, is asked to contact KHD and ask for Humane Officer Petix or Gozell. Phone 573-888-4622
