Just one puppy is alive after someone lined up the four-week-old litter and shot them. The despicable act of cruelty took place inside of an abandoned house in Benton, Tennessee, reported News Channel 9. Chrissy Hooper, a good Samaritan who had been bringing food to the family of strays, was horrified when she made the grim discovery.
Hooper told the news agency her intention for the stray pups, as soon as they were old enough, “I was going to get them and adopt them out.” But everything fell apart when she heard multiple gunshots ring out on the afternoon of April 29 – she said, “There were six shots and I thought, ‘Oh my gosh, them puppies.’ When I got there, they were laid out and they were all shot except this one little one. He squeaked out. I picked him up, wrapped him in a blanket and took him to the vet.”
Hooper has no idea why anyone would do something so horrible and cruel – she has reported the situation to the Polk County Sheriff’s Department and funds are being raised for the lone survivor’s care. The singular survivor, dubbed Chance, was also shot – a bullet entered his neck and exited through a joint in the puppy’s leg.
