On Wednesday, someone left a dog, double-bagged in plastic which was tied, outside of the New York Avenue adoption center for Humane Rescue Alliance. The dog, dubbed Mary, was abandoned with a note that read, “dog pass away Thanks.”
Mary was still very much alive, but suffering from a variety of ailments. According to the Humane Rescue Alliance (HRA), after being taken to a veterinarian for evaluation, it was determined that she had to be euthanized. HRA’s Vice President of Field Services Chris Schindler commented on the cruelty of the situation:
“We are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the person responsible for this heinous act. She was left to suffer and die a painful death. We hope this reward will motivate someone to come forward so that justice can be served.”
This case is being investigated by HRA’s Humane Law Enforcement division. If you have any information about this case, please call 202-723-5730 (option 1).

Did you know that if you want to get updates from a Facebook page, you have to do more than just “like” it? To get recent postings in your Facebook feed, you must also hover your mouse over the word “following” and then click “see first” from the drop-down menu. You may want to check back with your favorite pages on occasion because Facebook often changes your settings, no longer having your favorites among those to “see first.”
