A dog recently taken in at a Michigan animal shelter is missing one of his legs. According to the Michigan Humane Society, someone amputated the Labrador retriever mix’s hind leg with garden shears and a kitchen knife.
On Thursday morning, the animal welfare agency stated:
Yesterday morning our CID team rescued Mackinac, a dog in Hamtramck who was called in after someone attempted to amputate his leg with garden shears and a kitchen knife. The dog was seized and transported to our Detroit facility and is currently receiving care from our veterinary team.
According to the animal shelter, charges are being sought against the parties responsible for the alleged criminal act. More details and updates will be posted by the Michigan Humane Society as they become available.
Donations for this dog, and other homeless animals in need of care, can be made to the shelter at this link.

Did you know that if you want to get updates from a Facebook page, you have to do more than just “like” it? To get recent postings in your Facebook feed, you must also hover your mouse over the word “following” and then click “see first” from the drop-down menu. You may want to check back with your favorite pages on occasion because Facebook often changes your settings, no longer having your favorites among those to “see first.”
