In Huntersville, North Carolina, a dog had been leashed to back of a cargo carrier on a jeep. When the disturbing photos of the dangerous situation were posted on social media Monday afternoon, animal advocates were quick to respond over their concern for the dog’s safety.

According to the Facebook conversations after the photos were shared, the driver of the gray vehicle had been spotted at a Chick-Fil-A in Huntersville. After taking photos, eyewitness Jamie Reynolds wrote,

“What jerk hauls their dog on a cargo carrier?”

Another person reported seeing the gray Jeep at a different location and called Animal Control and police who have been trying to locate the driver of the vehicle. In North Carolina, there are no laws requiring pets to be secured, and it is perfectly legal to transport a dog in the back of a pickup truck without securing its safety. If an officer, however, deems the pet to be in danger, an owner can be charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty.

The following information was posted on Facebook.

Let’s hope the dog is safe and the owner is reminded how dangerous this could be for his pet.

  1. WHAT THE HELL IS THE MATTER WITH THESE SICK LOW LIFE RETARDED ASSHOLES. MAYBE THEIR MOTHER SHOULD HAVE PUT THEM IN THE BACK OF A CAR LIKE THIS WHEN THEY WERE AN INFANT. ALL I CAN SAY IS I HOPE ALL ANIMAL ABUSERS SLOWLY ROT WITH CANCER.

  2. Sadly I’m not surprised they allow shit like this to happen in North Carolina. When my mother died in July two years ago, she was kept at a mortuary for THREE days without refrigeration!!!! Yes that is the truth. And even though I made a complaint, nothing was done because it was perfectly acceptable by the laws there. Because I made such a stink, now on October 1st, a new law goes in to effect requiring refrigeration for a person until they’re cremated. It didn’t help my mother; it was too late for her to be treated with dignity and respect. These lax laws they have down there are indicative of some sick, mentally ill politicians.

    • I am very sorry your beloved Mom was not treated with dignity and respect. It’s a HUGE fear I have for my own Mom (when we lose her)…..

I agree with you that the laws regarding treatment of deceased people and treatment of animals MUST be changed (protection strengthened) and enforced……

  3. This is TOTALLY INHUMANE::: North Carolina :::: really must have some sort of Chemical in the states entire Water System :: It is the only answer to the total amount of the POPULATION that Treats their companion animals in such a barbaric fashion ::: actually at times far more cruel that some of the Third world countries WE are SO SURE TO BERATE !!! The Laws for ANIMAL RIGHTS really need to be Reviewed and Revised in the State of Sweet Peaches!!! But Moronic Human’s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Really North Carolina you allow owners to transport dog without make sure they are safe! What the hell????? Your state iand laws are irresponsible , inhumane and of course stupid

  5. I am just as upset with the people filming and not do anything. She is in a fast food drive thru. It would have been very easy to block her car, remove the dog, and call police!
