A nine-month-old puppy was discovered by a Broward County Sheriff’s deputy on Tuesday in a dumpster where the  frightened pooch was left to die.

Charles Young, a deputy with the county’s K-9 unit, had been driving near Hillsborough Boulevard in Deerfield Beach when he received a tip about the German shepherd and beagle mix inside of a dumpster. When Officer Young pulled up, he saw the soaking wet puppy huddled in the corner lying on top of a pile of garbage.

“Somebody with no feelings, somebody I would not call a human being,” the officer told CbsNews  describing whoever abandoned the pup. “He’s just a happy sweet dog, all he wanted to do was play. He’d jump on me and give kisses and just be a happy dog.”

The only lead authorities have is the color of the driver’s car as black or dark blue.

The puppy is now in the care of the Tri-County Animal Rescue in Boca Raton. He is being treated for hookworms and needs to gain weight, but is expected to be available for adoption in a few days. The adorable pooch has been named Oscar. If interested in adopting this boy, please call 561.482.8110.

Many thanks to Officer Young who admits to having nine dogs of his own including his K-9 partner Brady.

  1. What is it with Floridians? Not the first time I’ve heard of a dog being left in a dumpster in Florida. Is this the best they can do for their unwanted pups? The problem is they get away with this, even if found they receive only the proverbial “slap on the wrist”. They need tougher laws to protect these dogs! Thank you Deputy Charles Young for going above and beyond for this pup. I was especially impressed with the CBS report stating this hero has 9 dogs including his K9 partner Brady.

  2. Wow, the evil person that did this, hope somebody turns him in. Poor little guy, wishing him a life of love and care. Bless the policeman officer Young for rescuing him from the bumster.

  3. SEND THE SICK FUCK WHO DID THAT =SEND THE PUNK =LIFE TIME IN ASHIT FILTHY ROOM IN JAIL !! DO THAT !! ENOUGH WITH ANIMAL ABUSERS AND KILLERS !!

  4. Thank you to the hero that called and the hero officer who got this pup to safety. yes, he’s right….it isn’t a human who can do that to an innocent puppy.

  5. O Hell, if this asshole abuser is ever found, this being Florida nothing will happen to them and they will go along only to abuse more animals – I truly believe an eye for an eye and the scumsuck who did this should be hogtied and dumped in the everglades – not good for anything but gator lunch. Hope this little guy finds the safe loving home he obviously never had.

  6. I totally agree with you. Florida totally sucks when it comes to the wellbeing of animals; they barely investigate animal cruelty / abuse, even if it is obvious and there is evidence they often state the evidence was obtained illegally or not valid or not conclusive. A woman who totally abandoned her 2 cats to DIE in Boca Raton 5 yrs ago, a teacher, was exonerated even though charges were brought and she went on trial and the cats DIED a slow death from starvation and they had the evidence – the cat’s carcasses; she left them intentionally; never told anyone nor did she call Animal Services to at least tell them she left her animals. No one did anything; neighbors either did not know, heard nothing, saw nothing — or didn’t care. No. One. Cared. She was found NOT GUILTY. Not guilty? Many other examples — we who rescue could write a book on this subjet. Why is it that NO ONE CARES. Thank God this little dog was found just in time and was saved – and this story ended well. So many stories do not.
