Neglected dog gets compassionate good-bye
Spread the love

A badly neglected dog, found in a ditch near Manitowoc, Wisconsin, was given a compassionate and kind good-bye from shelter staff at the Lakeshore Humane Society. The hound, dubbed Mabel, was suffering with a multitude of health issues by the time that she was discovered…from cancerous tumors and horribly overgrown nails, to a body riddled with ball bullets.

Unconscionable neglect and abuse

Someone ignored Mabel’s suffering for a very, very long time – someone allowed her cancer to grow unchecked, her nails to curl painfully into her paws and her body to grow weak and fragile. The Lakeshore Humane Society wrote:

It’s nearly impossible not to have an emotional reaction to images like this, but there is a critical message that we can’t ignore. This happens in our community, and as animal lovers, we should feel compelled to join together to not only prevent it, but end it. This female hound was found in a ditch along HWY Q. She was emaciated, riddled with ball bullets, and dying of cancer.

A kind good-bye

Mabel may not have known much in the way of kindness in her life, but in the end, she was surrounded by people who cared about her. The shelter wrote:

No matter what their story, we ensure the humane and compassionate treatment of all animals entrusted to our care. We named her Mabel and in our hearts she belonged to us. She was safe, warm, and surrounded by love as she passed away peacefully earlier today.

Rest in peace Mabel – you mattered.

There is not a word to describe this kind of heinous abuse and cruelty though we all try to find one. Whoever did this to precious Mabel will meet their Maker one day, and He alone will administer justice befitting the crime.

  5. As sad as it is that this precious Mabel died, at least she knew loving care during her final hours instead of dying alone, afraid, in pain and unloved…..

RIP precious Mabel. You did NOT deserve to be abused….. please look for MacKitty in Heaven and you can RIP amongst loving snuggle buddies.

Precious treasure Mabel, your life mattered. I hope the POS’s who abused and abandoned you are found, prosecuted and punished severely.

The POS’s who abused you will burn in Hell forever for their cruelty……. let’s hope they get there ASAP after suffering a terrible death in pain, alone, afraid and unloved…….
