In Zionsville, Indiana, a severely abused four-month-old puppy left for dead continues to fight for her life and is making strides towards recovery, thanks to Every Dog Counts Rescue and their generous followers.
The organization’s Facebook page tells the heartbreaking story of little Halsey, rescued on Thursday and the challenges she faces as she slowly recuperates.
“Her abuser left her with multiple skull fractures, a broken jaw, multiple broken ribs and a badly broken forearm. She sat like this for days with no help or pain relief before she was found and rescued.”
On Thursday, the puppy underwent surgery to save her leg, but an infection has already set in, and it is not known if the operation will be successful. She also had a feeding tube placed into her stomach providing time for her broken jaw to heal. It is hoped with excellent care and nutrition, her other bones will heal also.
“It’s simply not fair for life to have been so brutal and painful for this baby. We’re so sorry for what you’ve been through, sweet girl. If you’ll give humans a 2nd chance, we’ll do our best to deserve it.”
On Friday, a man was arrested and charged with severely beating the puppy, according to the IndyChannelNews. Lemontrae Bible was arrested Friday at a home on N. Kenyon Street. According to police reports, Bible was charged with animal cruelty and possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.

Animal welfare laws are not tough enough. He should be in jail for life. He should never be able to have an animal near him.
Disgusting! What in the world did this poor pup done to deserve such a cruel beating? No pup deserves such depraved treatment. Find the sick heartless dirtbag who did this and break every bone in his/her body, and then throw the sorry ass in the slammer.

Lemontrae Bible sure does not live up to the meaning of his last name – this hunk of sewer sludge is just another waste of flesh and bone that should have been aborted not birthed. His vile cruelty towards an innocent and defenseless puppy proved he has the backbone of overcooked spaghetti – no REAL man would treat an animal so horrifically – he has proven his worthlessness and if I had the authority he would be taken out and hung. I hope and truly believe he should be charged with FELONY animal cruelty – he needs to be treated as he treated an innocent dog – with NO MERCY.

This pup couldn’t be in better hands! Every Dog Counts Rescue is one of the best rescues around. In fact, I just drove some puppies for them yesterday. Praying this baby heals – both physically and emotionally. I know this girl will have a great life from this point forward. I do hope the one(s) who did this get what they have coming to them, too!
