Update 9/11/18: Rescued!

On August 18, a senior dog was driven to a busy California animal control agency and surrendered by his family for being “too old.” Today, the 13-year-old dog, named Choco, is tucked away in the medical area of the animal shelter, hidden from the general public.

More about the surrendered senior dog

On September 8, Rita Earl Blackwell, a volunteer photographer, wrote:

13 yo Male 22 lbs. This little tootsie roll is so sweet. He was surrendered to the shelter, ‘too old’ , but that just means to me that he’s got a second chance to have great love 💙 adopting a senior dog is the best. They also found a small mass in his groin area. This peanut is in the medical department receiving extra care, but is UNSEEN any the public. Please tag adopters or Rescue. Available at the County of Los Angeles – Lancaster Animal Care Center

  2. What a cute little dog, senior or no senior he looks great for his age and surprisingly once out of the shelter, these dogs thrive and are so happy to be in a home with their new person. Don’t hesitate to take this guy. May be scared and confused, but given a calm, loving, intro into his new surroundings, he will be so happy and give you more love than you could ever imagine. Seniors are great dogs. I talk from experience. No more puppies for me but seniors have my heart now.

    • Same here….I adore the seniors. I’ve never had a puppy and I doubt I ever will….I don’t have the patience to train a puppy. Senior dogs make fantastic companions.
