A $500 reward has been offered by the Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA for information leading to the arrest and conviction for the person(s) responsible for the abuse and cruelty to a Hudson Valley dog found in the Earlton area, a hamlet in the Town of Coxsackie.

According to the organization’s Facebook page, the two-year-old, gentle pitbull mix now named Penny had been left on the side of the road on or near Schoharie Turnpike. The dog wandered to a home, and the owners called animal control. Brought to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA, Penny is now undergoing treatment.

“Due to her condition she’s lost the majority of her hair, and coupled with her compromised health, Penny could’ve easily succumbed to the frigid conditions. Penny is a gentle, sweet dog that deserves a better life than she’s had thus far,” said CGHS/SPCA President Ron Perez.

Penny is expected to make a full recovery and when completely healthy will be available for adoption.  People wishing to donate to help Penny with her rehabilitation can donate through the shelter’s website at www.cghs.org, or mail contributions to CGHS/SPCA, 111 Humane Society Road, Hudson, NY, 12534 – Attn: Penny.

  1. God bless those people who got Penny the help she needed and those who are making her feel better.
To those who did this to her, I pray you are caught and imprisoned. Obviously you don’t have a conscience.
