A reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever neglected a dog named Molly. On Wednesday, the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RISPCA) posted a photo of the badly neglected dog and provided some information:
Today we were contacted by the West Warwick Shelter about an aged dog that was brought to them on August 12. The person did not give any information other than to say he found the dog on Main Street near the library.
According to the RISPCA, the dog was wearing a collar, with a name tag showing that her name is Molly. The dog also has a microchip.
Neglected dog’s dismal physical condition
RISPCA President E.J. Finocchio outlined Molly’s dismal physical condition – he told WPIR News that the dog is in extremely poor health, suffering from a broken jaw, severe dental problems, tumors and skin problems across her entire body. Despite her obvious pain and discomfort, Molly appears to be happy.
Reward for information and possible charges
The reward for an arrest and conviction was originally $500, but it has climbed to $2,500. The responsible individual will face a misdemeanor neglect charge, or a felony if the dog passes away.
Anyone with information should call the RISPCA at 401-438-8150.
