The reward leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for jabbing a carabiner through a dog’s chest in Walton County, Florida has increased to nearly $10,000. On Friday, the Humane Society of the United States announced that it is offering $5,000 along with funds from a local rescue organization – bringing the total to $9,750.

On July 19, an injured dog was spotted curled up under a trailer. The dog was too frightened to come out and would growl at anyone that came too close. Animal control officers responded to the situation and when they were able to coax the dog out, noted a metal object embedded into the dog’s skin with a chain hanging from it.

Alaqua Animal Refuge stepped forward to help and named the yellow Labrador retriever Woodrow. The dog has since recovered from his injuries and once released from the shelter, will be offered for adoption.

“In releasing the photo of the dog’s injuries, we are hoping someone will come forward with information,” said Sheriff Michael Adkinson. “These injuries did not happen by accident.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the Walton County Sheriff’s Office at (850) 892-8186 or remain anonymous by calling Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers at (850) 863-TIPS.

Let’s help Woodrow get some justice.

  1. Hope when they find out who did this, the same thing will be done to this evil monster. Only a crazy person would think of doing this and what pain this dog was in. Glad Woodrow is safe and will be up for adoption soon to his forever family. Hope justice is served to the scum who did this.

  2. Walton County Florida. Someone out there knows this dog and who did this. Turn the creep in. The abuse of this innocent was evil. Woodrow needs a home now. Hope it is a dream, loving home with people who will forever love him and never chain him.
