In Prairie Rhonde, Louisiana, a group of volunteers helped an abandoned young mare left lying in a ditch on the side of the road Tuesday morning. According to the Facebook page of St. Landry Parish Animal Control, the yearling was being transported in a trailer that had apparently broken apart in an accident and the horse fell out. The owner and operator of the trailer left the scene after the accident.

Workers from the animal shelter used straps to gently lift the horse now dubbed Stormy onto the back of a horse trailer enabling shelter personnel to transport the young horse to a nearby veterinarian for emergency treatment.

Stormy was taken to the Copper Crown Veterinarian Clinic. Her condition is unknown, and it is hoped she was in shock and did not have any broken bones at the scene. Many thanks to the volunteers who carefully and compassionately helped this innocent victim of animal cruelty.

If anyone recognizes this young mare;

“Age YEARLING…..NO WORDS…SHAME on the person that left her…IF YOU KNOW THIS FILLY OR OWNER PLEASE CALL 337-948-6184…OR 911”

Donations to the horse’s care can be made by calling 337.407.8600.

An investigation is currently underway.

  1. Hopefully the worthless, useless waste of skin that did this will be reported…………..if not…..HEY KARMA!!! GO GET THEM!! AN EYE FOR AN EYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Hope the authorities can trace who the horse being transported belongs too and file criminal charges against them.What kind of accident happened where the trailer broke apart? Driver and owner of this horse need to be found and driver proesecuted. Selfish and KARMA will be after them.

    • Agreed!!!! My horses are my babies (just like my cats and dogs)…… I would NEVER abandon a precious little treasure….. poor baby, alone, in pain and afraid…… There is a spot reserved in Hell for the POS who abandoned this treasure (hope that they get there ASAP after dying alone, in pain and afraid)…..
