An adorable little puppy is recovering from surgery after she was found on Sunday, along with two other puppies, stuffed into a duffel bag and left alone at the intersection of Seven Mile and Schoenherr.

According to Detroit Dog Rescue, the three  10-week-old puppies were hungry and very sick.

“A Detroit resident found three puppies in a duffel bag, one of them was so full of parasites that her rectum prolapsed. Cardi Puppy is in surgery now and Dr. Hood and Dr. Shencopp are working hard to save her. This puppy is going to need a lot of care.”

Executive director of the rescue, Kristina Rinaldi described the surgery, stating veterinarians at Greenfield Animal Hospital performed emergency surgery on Cardi and had to remove three inches of intestines that had already become necrotic. The condition is caused by an overload of parasites at a young age. Because of the parasites, the puppy constantly feels she has to defecate – the constant pressure on the rectum causing the prolapse.

The other two puppies are in better condition. On Monday, Cardi was already feeling better, although her recovery will be a long one.

“Little Cardi is just waking up from emergency surgery after being found in a duffel bag with a prolapsed rectum.

This tiny puppy has a long way to go and will need to remain in intensive care. Once again, we’re turning to you, our supporters, our heroes, and our believers. Let’s rally together to save #Cardi. Every amount accounts and will be applied to Cardi’s care. To help please donate here DetroitDogRescue.com/donate.”

The Detroit Dog Rescue is asking for the public’s help hoping to find the person who did this. Contact the organization here.

  1. You are so right Pamela Bolton….. it is so horrible to see what some monsters who are disguised as humans do to animals. I hope karma finds these people and shows them what real torture and pain looks like! Then, may they rot in hell.

  2. Who does this to puppies? Only an evil monster. Prayers for these little one’s and I hope they find and prosecute the POS that did this!

  3. I hope you find the person who did this especially if this person has other dogs that are suffering like the mom of this pup so sad
