Puppy abandoned on busy road in a snowstorm

A puppy was cruelly dumped on a busy roadway during a snowstorm in Connecticut. The seven-month-old mixed breed pup, dubbed Jack, managed to avoid being struck by a car, or freezing to death in the storm, and on Sunday, he was taken to the Wolcott Dog Pound.

On February 18, the animal shelter reached out to Facebook followers with the puppy’s photo and a request for help in determining who he belongs to:

Who’s missing this sweet baby?? Impound #96
This little boy was found on upper Woodtick by Upson Rd. He’s sadly not wearing a collar or tags and is not micro chipped. If you know him or his owners please call us via the Police Department at 203-879-1414.

The post led to tips and the identification of Jack’s owners…the shelter updated followers:

This pup’s owners have been located. After the help from many concerned and many tips and leads we were able to confirm that this pup was dumped. Due to this being a on going investigation I cannot state much more. What I am going to say is that this will not be tolerated and if we can find you we will and you will be prosecuted, this is abandonment and animal cruelty.

Fortunately, Jack will not be returned to his owners – instead, he is now available for adoption. According to the animal shelter, Jack is “sweet” and he seems to be good with others (including children). A sad bit of insight was also revealed about the abandoned puppy’s past…the shelter has indicated that Jack lived much of short life tied up in a hallway.

Better days are ahead young Jack. Interested in adopting this sweet boy? Please call the Wolcott Dog Pound at 203-879-7620 or the Wolcott Police Department at 203-8799-1414.

  1. why do these kinds of people even get animals? this is sickening. We need animal welfare laws that really do punish the abuser adequately.

  2. Too lazy to drive to the shelter and dump the poor dog? There is a special place in Hell for people that do this to innocent puppies and I hope these morons find it soon!

  3. These PUTRID MORONIC INDIVIDUALS NEED to BE PUT ON A NEVER OWN LIST NATIONWIDE & they MOST CERTAINLY need PROSCUTED!!!! to the fullest… Jack did not deserve that type of treatment… Living our West I have always heard what a Lovely state Connecticut is and the People also… I sure hope these abusers are Not of the Norm and Jack will find a home and not be euthanized ..

  4. So happy this baby was not struck and killed on the street…..but very happy is will soon find a real home and loving family….. apparently he somehow ended up living with monsters!

  5. SICK USELESS POS SUBHUMANS MAKE ME SICK. WISH SOMEBODY DUMPED THEM WHEN THEY WERE BORN. TORTURE THE SICK BASTARDS AND HOPEFULLY THE WILL SLOWLY ROT WITH CANCER. I HATE ANIMAL ABUSERS

  6. These piss poor examples of ‘owners’ should be hogtied and dumped in the farthest landfill with the rest of the trash – let them rot among the garbage which is where they belong. So glad Jack was rescued and he deserves the safe loving home he obviously never had.
