A police department in Pennsylvania has reached out to the public for help after learning that one of its valued K9 members is battling a deadly cancer diagnosis. The City of McKeesport Police Department utilized social media on September 11 in an effort to help raise life-saving funds for K9 Officer Farkle, a German shepherd recently diagnosed with oral Melanoma.

The request

The Department described the situation facing Officer Farkle:

On August 13, 2018, Officer Matthews was enjoying some time at home with his partner and best friend of six years, K-9 Farkle. Farkle was playing and rolling around on the floor with Officer Matthews. It was during this time of play that Officer Matthews made a concerning observation. K-9 Farkle had an unusual lump on the roof of his mouth.

Officer Matthews immediately scheduled an appointment with a trusted veterinarian and prayed for the best. Unfortunately, the news was anything but good. K-9 Farkle was diagnosed with an oral Melanoma. Through further testing, the tumor was found to be cancerous. After serious consideration, doctors decided they could not safely remove the mass. The tumor was too close to Farkle’s hard palate.

Treating the K9

According to the department, the veterinarians are “confident” that Farkle can be treated with radiation and a melanoma vaccine – but the treatment is expensive. The department explained:

The McKeesport K-9 Unit opted to move forward with the treatments. However, this decision would be costly. Even after generous discounts from PETCURE and PVSEC, the total bill was close to $9,000.00.

How you can help

A fundraiser has been set up to help cover the cost of Farkle’s expensive cancer treatment. Almost half of the $9,000 goal has already been raised. Click here to find the fundraiser and donate.

  1. Yeah,”playing and rolling on the floor.” These are the stories they tell the public. My department was good at it, too. And so were other departments I investigated.

I wish people could see what REALLY happens to these dogs behind the scenes. It’s THE RULE. The claim of rolling around and playing on the floor goes against THE RULE for keeping and handling K9’s.

In addition there has never been a vaccine which stops cancer – in fact, vaccines are documented to CAUSE cancer.

If the department wants to treat their K9 for cancer, let the officers donate, and how about the chief and captains and lieutenants donate a little of their six-figure salaries (not to mention the benefits!!!).

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, that knowing what I know, dogs are better off dead than being totured behind the scenes (and kept in isolation when not being used or abused) for the entire time they are ‘working K9’s’.

      • Here is an excerpt from the following article (of course you will likely hear the opposite from sources who profit):
“As of July 2018 an internet search produced nothing claiming the canine cancer vaccine had cured or even postponed death. The conclusion is inescapable. The canine cancer vaccine has had disappointing results. I wish we could say otherwise but the instant information for ii NetPlaces Network is not into “marketing” anything. The network is known for authentic, annotated, reliable information for dog breeders and pet owners.”

      • And, you didn’t comprehend the statement. I didn’t say there aren’t cancer vaccines, there just aren’t any that are proven to stop cancer, and many that ARE documented to cause cancer.

    • I suppose you are saying the officer found the melanoma while he was “helicoptering, hanging, and otherwise abusing the dog in training. You don’t give up do you, heaven forbid any police or military K-9 might be loved and well taken care of. How are you coming with stopping this abuse by the way, have you gone to the media about it, the humane societies about it? Why, if this is going on, is NOBODY doing anything about it but you? And honestly what ARE you doing about it, you supposedly have all this evidence and yet nobody seems to want to help you. Society isn’t afraid of the police anymore, officers are being turned in for everything and anything so what is the problem getting someone to listen to you and DO something? I happen to support our law enforcement K-9 and am sick of you saying the dogs are better off “dead” then serving their communities!

      • As far as finding the melanoma, I didn’t suggest that it was found during the abuse. That’s your supposition. Don’t put words in my mouth, or my keyboard. It’s likely that the dog was having difficulty eating, or stopped eating, or perhaps it was found during a regular vet’s visit. So, on to your other accusations. I did go to the humane society (found out later about their corruption on several fronts, and someone else has a file a foot thick on them – and nothing has been done about that, either). I went to the media, and nobody cared, for some reason. One large newspaper approached me with the promise of an undercover investigation, but then went away without doing anything. I do have a great deal of evidence (how do you think I am able to put up a website with NAMES on it?).

I know that you support your law enforcement and K9 units, and I am very sure you do that on very little, IF ANY, personal experience of what goes on behind the scenes. I have produced links to other sources of information on these covert abominations, in fact, so many of them the last time that it apparently failed to get printed.

So, I’ll just include a few from around the country, and the world, and STILL NOTHING is being done, in those departments, either:

AND, even though I consider the following clip relatively mild, one officer recently, on another site, AT FIRST tried to tell me that they don’t do these things. After viewing the video, he amended his denial into a justification (read my website chapter on denials and justifications), by saying the public doesn’t understand that “hard corrections,” are necessary. Par for the course.

      • BM: You’re horrible, really. Here’s why nothing is being done about it, and it’s not because of Sue, it is because of head-in-the-sand police groupies like yourself. Watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SR0GINOPhZw and then realize that’s OUT IN THE OPEN. Then imagine behind the scenes, out of view/hearing from loyal fans like yourself. Then let it sink into your head that a Hammond Police Department review of that K-9 officer found the dog “was not abused or harmed in any way” and the abuser was given a paid vacation (admin. leave) for letting himself get caught on camera hanging and beating his dog after the dog had successfully sniffed out illegal contraband inside the vehicle.

      • Well EXCUSE me Laura for supporting the men, women and dogs that put their lives on the line to protect and serve. This “head-in-the-sand police groupy” realizes there are bad apples in every bunch, and I am the first to voice my disgust when I see such abuse! But there ARE good men and women out there doing a job that most of us wouldn’t want and I support them and will continue to support them. Call me horrible if you want, doing so certainly won’t make me change my mind and join your crusade against wrongs that I have NOT seen.

      • I’m sorry Sue, I’ve seen your data and I’m sure this goes on in some police forces but I am unwilling to believe it is ALL of them. I follow several military and police K-9 pages and these dogs are part of the family. They wouldn’t be able to be around the children of these officers if they were being treated as you say.

      • It appears one of my first two links didn’t fill in completely. The other didn’t translate for some reason. I’ll try it again.

      • B.M. – You read their pages. I worked in a department where there ARE good officers, but they aren’t generally the ones who advance to top ranks because, unfortunately, power corrupts. I wonder if you read the same police pages I did, after the video of Sgt. Charles Jones hanging and kicking his K9 Ricoh appeared on the Internet. The comments in those pages, by “law enforcement” personnel, had a bad guy they focused on, and it wasn’t Sgt. Jones, it was whoever secretly taped it and released the abuse for public viewing. And God help that person if he or she was, or is, ever found out. I had surreptitious attempts on my life just for speaking out.

      • BM: Obviously you don’t comprehend anything outside your comfy little scope. Happy head still stuck in sand. It must be very comforting for you. How nice for you. It’s all about you.
