A pair of turkeys from South Dakota, dubbed “Peas” and “Carrot” are set to receive Presidential pardons this week for Thanksgiving.
According to KSFY News reporter Peter Zampa, the turkeys, raised at the Riverside Colony near Huron, will be officially pardoned by President Trump. Both will be safe from the Thanksgiving dinner table, however only one will be named “National Thanksgiving Turkey.”
The two perfectly groomed birds posed majestically at the Intercontinental Hotel in Washington D.C. On Tuesday, they will meet with the President and then officially “retire” to Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia where they will join last year’s pardoned turkeys – Drumstick and Wishbone. The turkeys will live out their natural lives on the farm. Officially, it was Drumstick who was named “National Thanksgiving Turkey” last year.
The public does get to vote whether Peas or Carrot should be the main honored bird. Vote here.
