A paralyzed dog, completely unable to defend herself from predators, was abandoned on top of a deserted mountain in Hazard, Kentucky. The three to four-year-old dog, dubbed Camellia, was in such poor condition when she was first discovered this week that it was unclear if she would survive the night.

Fortunately, the injured dog has shown her fighting spirit and she is still alive. According to the Arrow Fund, Camellia suffered some type of trauma to her spine and was “teeming” with fleas and ticks. On Wednesday, the Arrow Fund updated its Facebook followers about Camellia’s condition:

“Camellia shows no real progress yet with her back legs. She is currently doing hyperbaric oxygen chamber therapy to promote healing from the trauma. She can feel deep pain in her toes and does have anal tone, those are good signs.”

If Camellia does not regain the use of her legs, the rescue group will acquire a cart to help her get around more easily.

Did she have a chip or tags to identify who she may belong to or who abandoned her is more the question. Glad she was found and do we know the circumstance in which she was found? Thank you Arrow Fund for all you are doing for this girl. Bless you and all of you that are helping her.

What a positive EVIL< DEMONIC <SOB< to leave this dog for mountain lions, bears, coyotes, badgers, to tear Her Little Body to Shreds while she was alive… the Higher made it possible for this little girl to be found and taken to a place with ethics, consideration, and compassion!!! I can not comprehend the Ruthlessness of the people in that state… My great-grand father was from Greenup, my Aunt a small settlement out there too. Never would they abuse anything… bless their long gone souls… I hope they find out who did this and Deal in a Heavy Handed Fashion For a Change…

O I so truly hope the maggot puke that dumped Camellia gets their just due – a fatal encounter with an 18 wheeler would be justice for their horrific cruelty to not only an innocent animal, but an animal that could not defend itself at all. Camellia is a fighter and a survivor and will hopefully recover and get the safe loving home she obviously never had. Please keep us updated on her recovery. Boy, would I like five minutes with the punk bastard who did this to her.
