Last Monday, a Florida man panicked when his puppy jumped out of his boat and into the water in Sisters Creek, near Jacksonville. Tyler Boylston didn’t want his pup, Charlie, to drown, so he promptly jumped off of his boat and into the water as well.
A dangerous situation
Things didn’t go as planned for Boylston – though he reached his pup, the current whisked him away from his boat. He tried to swim towards shore, but his efforts were fruitless – he told News 4 Jax:
“I starting swimming toward shore. After about 15 minutes of this, I realized I’m not getting anywhere, so I started treading water and yelling at the top of my lungs for someone to help me. After about 30 minutes of treading water, I was getting to the point of exhaustion. I couldn’t move anymore.”
Unexpected help
Boylston was screaming for help and began to realize that he was probably going to drown. He told the news agency of his despair:
“This is it. I’m not going to make it. I just kept thinking about my wife and my three kids. It was the first time I ever said that ‘I don’t know if I can go any longer. My body will not continue to move.’ And I didn’t see any boats coming by, so I just started preparing for what was to come,”
Before the unthinkable happened, boaters appeared “out of nowhere” to save the day. Boylston and his puppy were plucked from the water and saved – despite the harrowing situation, both managed to make it through the terrifying ordeal unscathed.

I would do the same thing! Probably put a life jacket on.

This is something many of us would do to save our precious pup. I hope he is more careful if he ever ventures out on the water with his pup again.
When you are in a boat, put a life jacket on yourself as well as your pet, or if possible, tether your pet inside the boat. I would imagine we would all try to save our babies. So happy all, including the rescuers, are safe
More angels and heroes! God bless you all! Many many prayers to all the people and animals in harms way!
Life Jackets for one’s Pet are pretty Darn reasonably Priced … they are easily made to put on without difficulty and they come from x small to xx large… they even have a handle on the back to help keep your pet safe!!! keep human life jackets handy too … I am glad both made it out without drowning!!! Next time Maybe NOT so Lucky!!!!!
Lifejackets would have made things lots easier. Good man for saving his pup, Charlie. You get mega hugs for thnat.
