In South Wales, a farmer who killed his sheepdog for not rounding up his flock properly, has been jailed for four-and-a-half months. Graham Thomas, 55, wrapped a 20 foot rope around his sheepdog named Prince’s neck and hanged him from a tree.

According to the Daily Mail, Thomas pleaded not guilty, contending his dog climbed up the tree by himself and accidentally twisted the rope around his neck. He stated, by the time he found his dog and tried to help, Prince was dead. After finding his dog  Thomas burned the dog’s body.

Witnesses to the incident, however have another version of Prince’s death.  At the Newport Magistrate’s Court, earlier this week, neighbors could hear Thomas swearing and shouting at the Welsh border collie in the moments before he was killed. In testimony, a veterinarian stated the hanging of the dog would have caused “great fear, distress and clear unnecessary suffering.” In addition, a RSPCA officer stated Thomas’ story didn’t add up.

The jury found Thomas guilty of animal cruelty with the judge calling it one of the “clearest acts of cruelty that had been encountered and was so serious that only custody could be justified.”

Thomas has also been banned from owning any dogs and sheep for life in addition to his sentence of 18-weeks of jail.

  1. how stupid can one sob act. the dog didn’t round up the sheep properly, how about I put him in with a few lions, and see if they can round him up to his satisfaction.

  2. I have an idea. Lets “accidentally” wrap a 20 foot rope around this douchbag’s neck and hang him from the same tree. What a worthless POS!

  3. Justice will only be served if the same is done to this poor dogs owner. What a disgusting scum of a so called human to kill his dog like this and then has the gall to blame the dog for his own death. Sick people like this deserve to all be put together on an island and kill each other.

  4. And the judge thinks 4 1/2 months is justice for The murder of that dog. Sorry but the judge is just as sick as he is. Banning for life was a good thing but the sentence IS A JOKE.

  5. Glad this vile piece of c**p got jail time and won’t ever be able to own dogs nor sheep again. The stupid excuse he used for killing his innocent dog is so pathetic he must have thought he simply wouldn’t be convicted to even use it.

However, I wish they could have hanged him either from that tree or from a taller one nearby. It would be a much more fitting punishment. Perhaps when he gets out…..

  6. He is a liar and an abuser and I wouldn’t be surprised to find out he abused the sheep.
so glad the courts ruled he won’t be able to have anymore dogs or sheep. That poor dog. I can’t imagine what his life was like with this monster.

  7. The dog climbed up the tree and accidentally hung himself? What kind of an idiot expects someone to believe that? I’m glad this moron will spend some time in jail, but it should have been longer!

  8. I’d likevitvmire if the judge would take that rope, tie it around the asshole’s neck, make him climb a tree and push him off the branch cuz he won’t jump! Poor sweet pup!!!

  9. You Bastard! He deserves more time, however, I am concerned about the dog pictured. Clearly it’s not Prince since he was burnt.
