In Bangs, Texas, two dogs were told off by a porcupine who fought back slinging a face full of quills upon each dog. Ouch! The dog’s owner said it happened during the night and when she saw the dogs in the morning, she was shocked.

According to KxanNews, Peggy Gamblin was “scared to death” when she saw her Boston terrier’s, Bullwinkle entire face covered in quills. And if that wasn’t frightening enough, the family’s Australian shepherd, Bentley Nicole encountered the same fate. The dogs were rushed to the Brown County Animal Clinic where veterinarians removed as many quills as they could. Some are still embedded in their skin, but are expected to work their way out to the surface within the next two weeks.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Game Warden is warning residents that this is the breeding season for porcupines who are nocturnal. Porcupines are attracted to garbage, pet food and frequently scavenge for food like raccoons and opossums.

Both dogs are home and resting and are expected to make a full recovery. Ouch!

  1. TEXASS again of COURSE:: If you leave your dogs outside to roam the area what the hell do YOU Expect to happen to them …Could of been worse they could have gotten killed by wildlife the prey on much smaller animal’s and EAT THEM !!! DAH!!!

  2. Guess those poor dogs won’t do that again, but you never know. Hope they are in no pain and recuperate quickly.
