North Carolina man accused of beating Lab puppy to death appears in court

In Wilmington, North Carolina, the man alleged to have beaten a five-month-old Lab puppy to death for peeing on his shoe Christmas day appeared in court on Tuesday afternoon in a drama-filled scene. Christopher Simpson, 21, has been charged with felony animal cruelty and one count of misdemeanor cruelty to animals. A necropsy performed on the deceased puppy determined he died of severe blunt trauma and internally bled to death. The veterinarian in charge of the postmortem exam stated this was the worst case of animal cruelty he had ever seen.

According to CbsNorthCarolina, prosecutors asked the judge to increase Simpson’s bond from $2,500 to $50,000 after he and his girlfriend had intentions of fleeing to Florida to avoid prosecution. Simpson appeared in court with his girlfriend, Alyssa Croom. The puppy had recently been adopted from the New Hanover County Animal Shelter by Alyssa’s parents.

The judge decided to increase Simpson’s bond to $100,000 and also ordered him not to have any animals in his presence if he makes bond. The audience in the courtroom quickly broke out in applause at which time the judge silenced the court.

After Simpson’s girlfriend stormed out of the courtroom, the judge had bailiffs bring her back and lectured her about her behavior.

HURRAY !!! HURRAY for the JUDGE for standing up for JUSTICE for this poor little dog … THE picture of him wearing a SANTA totally joyous in finding a NEW and “CARING ” home should be on a poster with what happened to him and the HORRIFIC WAY he died SHOULD BE Posted in SHELTERS and RESCUES across this NATION!!! Simpson NEEDS serious prison time… and Croons parents SHOULD be disgusted with HER for standing up for Simpson who is a PSYCHOPATH and will do the same thing to her if she continues to support him in his cruelty and torturous ways.

I cry every time I see the picture of that sweet pup in the Santa hat. He thought he was going to have a long and loving life. Then he suffered so horribly at the hands of that POS. RIP sweet pup. You’re with the angels now and you will never be hurt again.

Is the girlfriend crazy? Why is she still with this murdering thug? He beat an innocent puppy to death, it’s just a matter of time before he directs his anger at her. Where are the parents? Why aren’t they stepping in to prevent another disaster. Thank you to the judge that increased the bail!

Thank you judge for increasing the bail on this scum and his girlfriend, whose parents owned this puppy, should have also been arrested since she was willing to flee the area and go to Florida. Life, even that of her parents pup, means nothing to her except this scum of a subhuman thing. Both should be in jail for life if not at least years. She should have also been arrested. Hope this thing gets the maximum sentence.

I agree and if I were her parents I would beg the judge to keep her in prison along this monster forever or if possible execute both of them!

This makes me sick! This POS killed his girlfriend’s parents puppy and she is willing to “flee” to Florida with the POS? She needs to be put in jail too! I’m glad the Judge upped the bail and I hope he throws the book at this monster, kudos for him “lecturing” the idiot girlfriend also but I’m sure it fell on “deaf” ears. If she would still be with the POS that killed her parent’s puppy, then she has NO brains what so ever, she will be next getting beaten by this thug!

Christopher Simpson killed an innocent defenseless puppy for peeing on his damn shoe – I hope this fucking punk does NOT make bail and the inmates give him the lesion of his life – pee down this punk’s throat and give him a dose of his own medicine – then make him a victim and degrade him in every way possible. And as for the hunk of shit girlfriend – she deserves a big dose of street justice which I only wish I could give her.
