Homeless dog has no meet and greet for years

A homeless dog in Wantagh, New York, has been waiting for years to be adopted. Sad enough that the senior pit bull is homeless, but nobody has come to meet her in years….

Her name is Diamond and she was surrendered to the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter when her owner decided that they could no longer care for her. Diamond’s Petfinder biography reads, in part:

Diamond is 9 1/2 years old, 65 pounds, and has the most gorgeous brownish/ reddish fur and floppy ears. Diamond had lived in the same home her entire life, and now founds herself alone, and homeless, at her age. We are all heartbroken for her.

Diamond is a house dog who now lives in a kennel run – she knows many obedience commands and she adores people. It’s impossible to fathom the depth of her heartache now that she has lost her family, and her home. Please help Diamond find a new family by sharing her adoption information.

Did you know that if you want to get updates from a Facebook page, you have to do more than just “like” it? To get recent postings in your Facebook feed, you must also hover your mouse over the word “following” and then click “see first” from the drop-down menu. You may want to check back with your favorite pages on occasion because Facebook often changes your settings, no longer having your favorites among those to “see first.”

  1. Share on Facebook and all animal rescue sites. She is adorable and certain she will be so happy to be in a home again. Dogs don’t understand why one day they are in a house with family members, and next day in a strange place. Foster this dog. That would at least give her a sense of home again. Advertise and promote this sweet dog.

  4. I would like to see more information of the dog posted as like, does she get along with other dogs? Why has she been ignored? This information can help her! A lady in Georgia mentioned she would like to adopt her.

  5. Just an fyi for anyone interested, as of July 28th, Diamond is still at the shelter and available for adoption.
And the shelter’s Facebook page says they are waving all adoption fees until September 2nd.
