On April 7, the Suffolk County SPCA announced that a Wyandanch, New York, man is facing charges in conjunction with the death of a tethered dog, According to the animal welfare agency, 54-year-old Nicholas Garrett is facing a charge of animal cruelty by the Suffolk County S.P.C.A. for one count of failure to provide proper sustenance including lack of food, water as well as three counts of tethering violations.

Garrett allegedly is responsible for the death of a four-year-old male pit bull named Tyson. When detectives with the SPCA responded to a complaint received from the Suffolk County Police Department, they found Tyson dead, still tethered to a tree, with an empty water bowl out of his reach.

If convicted, Garrett will be required by law to register with the Suffolk County Animal Abuse Registry . Each person registered in the registry shall remain on the Animal Abuse Registry for five years following their release and must notify of any change of residence.

Chief Gross said that animal cruelty will not be tolerated in Suffolk County. If you witness any incident of animal cruelty or neglect in Suffolk County please contact the Suffolk County SPCA at (631) 382-7722. All calls will be kept confidential.

    • Funny how the mind works, when I read your original statement I read “nauseum” It wasn’t until you posted this that I went back and saw “museum”.

  1. Good for authority for doing something about this dog’s suffering and death. Another heartless man who just doesn’t give a damn.

  2. I’m glad Suffolk County has a animal abuser registry but this POS needs to be on it for the rest of his miserable life, not just 5 years. I hope they throw the book at this evil man!

  3. Effen FAT BASTARD!!!!!!,You look pretty well fed!!!! Don’t pull the race card when you sentenced,a white dude would get the same!!!!!!! I wish you VERY BAD LUCK!!!!!!

  4. Another hunk of sewer slime who will never get the punished enough for his cruelty to an animal. They can register him, fine him, even give a slap on the wrist jail time – BUT he needs to feel the same abuse he gave to Tyson – I truly hope there is a drive-by in his near future. His deliberate abuse caused Tyson’s death and until he pays dearly there will be no justice.

  5. What I wonder is how many other innocent pets were subjected to a long, slow, painful death. Despicable sub-human maggot ought to be tied to his bed and denied ALL sustenance until he’d dead. Period! Garrett better be glad he lives so far away from me, freaking sadistic monster. Judges would be wise to start prosecuting these thugs to the fullest extent of the law or there will be some vigilante justice rising up to right these horrendous wrongs. We can only take so much of this crap and judges are VOTED in locally to SERVE their community and so MANY of them look the other way.
