Dawn Marie, founder of the rescue group Breezy’s Legacy located in Seminole County, Florida is best known for rescuing and rehabilitating injured, orphaned or displaced wildlife and unwanted exotic pets. Dawn Marie tries very hard to keep as many dogs and cats out of the county high kill shelters as possible.  She does not turn any animal away and no animal is too sick or too small to be taken in.

Recently, a local neighborhood cat was attacked by a dog that lived nearby. Beastly suffered a broken leg, broken teeth, the side of his mouth was cut open and he had several puncture wounds. Dawn rushed Beastly to the vet where he was x-rayed, and it was suggested he have his leg amputated. Beastly was put on pain medication and antibiotics. He was finally able to eat on his own, even though he had multiple broken teeth and the side of his mouth had been cut open. His diet consists of wet food and plenty of fluids.

Beastly is currently under the care of Dr. David at Geneva Oaks Animal Hospital in Geneva, Florida. Contrary to what the first vet recommended, Dr. David feels that Beastly’s leg can be saved. Dr. David reset and re-splinted the broken leg. The cat was also vaccinated, neutered and chipped. He is still not out of the woods and has a long road of recovery ahead of him. This will include multiple surgeries. Dawn Marie has promised Beastly to be by his side every step of the way. And with love and support, Beastly will do fine.

Whoever came up with the adage, “a cat has nine lives,” definitely knew Beastly.

“A cat has absolute emotional honesty: human beings, for one reason or another, may hide their feelings, but a cat does not.”
– Ernest Hemingway

  1. HUGE THANK YOU TO DAWN MARIE for rescuing Beastly (hope there will be a name change) – if not for her and the people at Breezy’s Legacy this poor cat would be dead. Hopefully, the leg can be saved – and that Beastly will fully recover and get the safe, loving and indoor home he so desperately deserves.

  2. I would like to thank everyone for their wonderful words & support for Beastly. I have always been told that I am a “Animal Wisperer” and that I have the ability to bring out the best in animals even at their worse. Beastly is proof of that. When I pulled the dog off Beastly he was scared & fighting for his life. At that very moment I looked directly into his eyes and I felt his pain. I told Beastly that everything would be ok, for him to please trust me & that I was there to help him. Even though he was growling & hissing at me the whole time, I was able to get him into a crate without further injuries to Beastly or any injuries to myself. I thought for sure that he would have had internal damage from being attacked but luckily everything internal was in perfect condition besides brusing.

Here at Breezy’s Leagacy I exaust all funds and/or resources to help any animal in need. I am the Owner/Founder & the only Rescuer/Operater. Breezy’s Leagacy is soley operated on donations and/or money from my own pocket. Some people mistakenly think that I receive any payment/paychecks for what I do. I do it because it is what I love to do.

I am considering a name change for him because he has turned out to be the most sweet & loving Kitty ever despite his current situation.
