Nearly 120 animals, living in conditions described as “deplorable,” were rescued from a self-described sanctuary in New Mexico last week. According to KOB News, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) helped Union County authorities remove dozens of animals from the Dreampower Foundation in Clayton.

The ASPCA commented on the condition of some of the animals which were rescued from the “sanctuary,”

One dog was missing her back hind paw. Another sat shaking in fear. Their water bowls were empty, or filled with filthy water. Inside the property, the floors were covered with urine and feces, while dead mice laid on the floor.

Tim Rickey, vice president of ASPCA Field Investigations and Response, stated:

“It was evident as soon as we arrived on the property that these animals were living in appalling conditions for quite some time.”

Detectives began investigating the sanctuary more than three months ago – the investigation remains ongoing. The dozens of animals removed from the property were taken to an undisclosed location where they will be receiving care until custody is determined.

To get recent postings in your Facebook feed, you must also hover your mouse over the word “following” and then click “see first” from the drop-down menu. You may want to check back with your favorite pages on occasion because Facebook often changes your settings, no longer having your favorites among those to “see first.”

  2. Hope and pray they can help each animal in the so call sanctuary. Don’t really care about the owners because the law will deal with them. These poor animals are the ones people should be trying to help any way they can if they live in the area. Look at the faces of these dogs and the way they look at their rescuers. Love in their eyes and still willing to trust humans. Animals are amazing and we should all see when things are really down all it takes it to give a little love and you will be rewarded 10 times over.

  3. SANCTUARY – Hardly! I hope that the so called ‘humans’ who ran this dump are arrested – they were nothing more than animal abusers who forced these animals to live in filth. Prosecute them – make them pay for all the medical problems these poor neglected animals have, which I am sure were never addressed. That should be the least of their punishment.
