In Butler County, Ohio a Hamilton man has been charged with animal cruelty after a neighbor videoed the man severely thrashing his dog with a thick leash.

According to the press release from the Butler County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday afternoon, Kristopher Johnson, 21, was observed beating the dog and recorded “by an anonymous citizen and given to the authorities.”

“The pit bull named Zeus was immediately removed from the home by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office Dog Wardens. Mr. Johnson was issued a citation for Animal Cruelty, a Misdemeanor offense. He is scheduled to appear at the Hamilton Municipal Court on Thursday February 15th at 8:00 am. ‘It’s a shame a crime like this doesn’t fit the felony statute. People like this deserve far worse punishments for their abusive actions. It takes a real weak person to abuse a defenseless animal and it disgusts anyone who is a normal human being,’ said Sheriff Jones.”

On the Facebook page for the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, a woman has come forward admitting to having been the witness who videoed the disturbing act.

“Jennifer Bowman I’m the one who caught video of this after the people who live their tried hurting my dog several times. Yesterday while watching my camera I wittnessed (sic) this and reported it. It was heart breaking!!!”

Two videos can be viewed here and the dog can be heard yelping in pain and fear. Zeus is reported to be safe.

  1. It should up to the animal advocates in that state to demand harsher penalties for animal abuse but sadly nobody has the inclination to do so. Shame on you people of Butler County Ohio! Thanks to the lady for speaking up!

  2. WHY is not considered a felony animal cruelty case??? ALL animal abuse cases should be felonies. This punk needs a beat down he will never forget or, hopefully, live through. Kristopher Johnson is nothing more than a coward who if confronted by a human and not an innocent animal would be running home crying for Mommy. This is the sort of coward who needs to be sitting in a jail cell being victimized by every inmate in the cellblock, citation is a joke – he needs to feel the same fear and pain Zeus felt.

  3. AFTER VIDEO TAPING THIS I WOULD HAD BEATEN THE SHIT OUT OF THIS PUNK ASS LOW LIFE SCUMBAG. IT MAKES ME SICK THESE SUBHUMANS SEEM SO DAMN TOUGH BUT IF THEY WERE CONFRONTED BY A HUMAN THEY WOULD HAVE THOUGHT TWICE. HOPE THIS RAT ASS POS GETS HIS ASS KICKED, TORTURED AND THEN ROT WITH CANCER.
