Missing pilot, Bill Kinsinger, 55, was last seen on Wednesday after the plane he was flying crashed into the Gulf of Mexico. According to Pilots N Paws, Kinsinger had been leaving Oklahoma City to Georgetown, Texas to pick up Masaru, an 11-year-old husky dog. The dog needed veterinary treatment and had been saved from euthanasia.
The Facebook page “Saving Masaru the senior husky” explained Masaru had not been on the Cirrus SR22 when just 20 minutes after take-off, the plane went off track and is thought to have crashed into the Gulf of Mexico. The search for Kinsinger continues, but while the news about the loss of an honored and cherished animal rescuer brings tears to everyone’s eyes, Masaru was picked up by five other Pilots N Paws’ volunteers who completed the trip in honor of Bill.
On the Pilots N Paws Facebook page came a very emotional post honoring a hero:
“A very emotional Pilots N Paws transport will land any minute at Wiley Post Airport (KPWA), PNP Pilot Bill’s home airport in Oklahoma City. The pilots chose to fly to KPWA in Bill’s honor.
Tonight at approximately 6 PM PNP pilot Justin Blackburn, his wife, and three other PNP pilots embarked on the journey from Georgetown, Texas to Oklahoma with the Husky named Masaru that Bill had kindly agreed to transport yesterday.
Having flown PNP rescue missions each week since he first joined in July, 2014 Bill is a very special part of our organization. Yesterday, en route to pick up Masaru his plane went off course and went missing over the Gulf of Mexico. The Coast Guard is still searching for him.
Please keep Bill and his family in your prayers. We are holding out hope for a miracle that he will be found safe.
It’s been heartwarming to see the acts of kindness unfold throughout the day from so many in the Pilots N Paws community. Thank you all for your continued prayers.”
Pilots N Paws is a group of volunteers that transport animals out of kill shelters and take them to new homes or foster families throughout the United States. Dr. Bill Kinsinger was just one of these heroes whose love for animals made a difference in this world.
